My name is Henrike Dijkstra (she/her). I'm a comic artist from the Netherlands and I love (visual) storytelling.

I have about 7 years of experience in teaching story and visual storytelling. I've done this through courses, Youtube and one-on-one coaching and longer mentorship.

I've helped artists and writers who were doing different kinds of projects, but my own specialty is comics. Which is why I coach artists on making comics and for other kinds of creative projects I focus on story, only.

Side note:

I'm open to helping you with many kinds of stories. But I'm not the right kind of person to coach on stories featuring a lot of horror, excessive violence of any kind, and occult and esoteric stories. (Fantasy is fine)

Stories that, in their core message, promote hate against any group of people or individuals will not be considered for coaching.

Queer stories are welcome. <3

Meetups: online, except if you're in the Netherlands. Then we can arrange live meetings.

How does this work?

Most story coaching I've done have consisted of 3-4 sessions. We'll talk through the basics of your story to find what you want to communicate, who your protagonist is and what you want to do with your story. Then I'll ask you to send me an outline of all the story points you have, so far and we'll go from there. You will be creating a rock solid outline in between sessions that will help you to write scenes, know what needs to be there in the story and what you can cut and that will help you deliver the emotional beats you want your story to have.

For comic coaching, I offer sessions to help you get unstuck or I can give you general feedback on there you are in your progress right now. I also offer long term mentorship in which I can hold you accountable and you can send in your work regularly for feedback.
